In most instances, Hong Kong defers to maximum
residue levels established by the Codex Alimentarius Commission.

IV. TARIFFS
Hong Kong is a free port and does not impose
tariffs on apples, cherries, pears or stone fruits.
V. NON-TARIFF BARRIERS
A. Labeling requirements:
Hong Kong is establishing nutrition labeling
requirements for prepackaged foods. This standard will
likely be implemented in stages beginning in 2005.
Fruits and vegetables are expected to be
exempt from these requirements. However, if nutrition
labeling is contained on the package, it must conform to Hong
Kong's standard which varies from the U.S. standard.
