On April 23, 2004 President Bush cleared the way for renewed
economic ties with Libya as a result of Col. Quadhafi's renouncing
terrorism. Therefore, commercial travel and trade with Libya
is now possible. USDA/APHIS is currently working on changes to
EXCERPT (the website containing official phytosanitary requirements)
that will provide guidance for the export of fruits and other plant
products to that country.
It is strongly recommended that exporters verify the full import
requirements with their foreign customers before any goods are
shipped. Final import approval of any product is subject to
the importing country's rules and regulations as interpreted by
border officials at the time of product entry.
