The Environmental Protection Agency approves the use of pesticides and sets maximum residue level tolerances for fruits.

    B. Monitoring chemical residues:

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Food & Drug Administration enforces chemical residue levels on imported and domestically produced fruits.
